At Cersaie 2026, VitrA Tiles drew on its Material Intelligence approach to present The Code concept, together with fresh innovations, to professionals from across the industry.
Bologna, Italy. VitrA Tiles took part in Cersaie 2026, the international ceramic tile and bathroom furnishings exhibition that Bologna, Italy hosted from 21 to 25 September, and it welcomed architects, customers, designers and industry professionals to its stand. The company built its presence around the Material Intelligence concept and used the event to unveil its innovations alongside the 2027 collections.
“Every material has a code. Material Intelligence deciphers it.” That idea drives the design thinking of VitrA Tiles, which combines research, design expertise and advanced technology to reinterpret the materials that nature provides. Drawing on the visual appeal and technical promise of the natural world, VitrA Tiles turns these materials into original surfaces that give contemporary architecture new sources of inspiration.
Three Languages of Design
Three design languages form the basis of The Code concept, and from them VitrA Tiles created the Resincode, Geocode and Metacode collections, which Cersaie visitors can explore on the VitrA Tiles stand.
Resincode takes inspiration from natural concrete, with its porous, mineral-rich texture, gentle transitions and layered surface effects, and it brings a refined, balanced, minimalist look to contemporary interiors. Geocode borrows from Spanish marble, limestone, gneiss and quartzite, and it reinterprets the rich geological legacy of natural stone on ceramic surfaces in a modern way. It comes in four surface typologies, each distinct: Alba, Imperio, Rio and Merano. Metacode offers three distinct surfaces in tones of copper, iron and gold, and it lends ceramic the soft sheen and delicate tonal shifts of patinated metal, pairing industrial character with refined elegance.
Innovations in Technology
Alongside its new collections, VitrA Tiles used Cersaie 2026 to present its V-Tone and V-Flex innovations.
Välinge’s Ceraloc® locking technology powers V-Flex, an installation solution for tiles that needs no adhesive. Special side profiles let the tiles bond mechanically, and the system promises application up to five times faster than conventional bonded tiles. Installers achieve accurate alignment, uniform joints and a neat, professional finish. Users can remove and replace individual tiles whenever necessary, which brings significant advantages by simplifying upkeep and repair work. The system also improves acoustic comfort. VitrA Tiles recommends V-Flex for retail stores, chains of stores, showrooms, hotels, offices, commercial spaces and educational facilities.
V-Tone tackles tonal variation in ceramic production, keeping colour consistent and preserving design integrity across varied surfaces. VitrA Tiles continues to integrate V-Tone technology into its production lines.
