Robinhood AI Agent Crypto Trading Opens to US Users via Guardrailed Accounts

Robinhood AI agent crypto execution is coming to eligible US customers, with the company confirming at a Friday presentation that users will be able to connect third-party AI agents to manage trades within predefined limits. The UK follows after the US rollout, with no launch date announced for either market.

The feature lets users set guardrails rather than watch positions continuously. An executive framed it as giving retail access to automation that has historically sat with institutional desks. Compatible AI models include those from Anthropic, OpenAI, and SpaceX’s Grok.

The crypto rollout extends a beta already live for equities and options traders since late May. Robinhood said more than 70,000 agentic accounts have been created through that programme, which gives some indication of how much demand exists for delegated execution before the crypto leg even opens.

Robinhood Chain Numbers That Actually Matter

The AI announcement lands as Robinhood Chain, the company’s Arbitrum-based Ethereum layer-2, posts volumes that would be difficult to dismiss. The network launched on 1 July and processed 17 million transactions from nearly 350,000 wallet addresses in its first week.

TVL climbed above $115 million after a 23% jump in 24 hours, per DeFiLlama data. A large portion of that liquidity is concentrated: roughly $90 million sat in Morpho’s lending protocol within the first week, according to Crypto Briefing, though Yahoo Finance put the Morpho figure at approximately $65 million at a separate point in time, reflecting the pace at which TVL has been moving.

Robinhood Earn, the product routing USDG deposits into those Morpho vaults, is offering approximately 7% APY, which explains some of the draw.

On DEX volume, the DeFiLlama newsletter reports Robinhood Chain accumulated nearly $4 billion in Uniswap volume over its first seven days, accounting for approximately 25% of Uniswap’s total 7-day DEX volume and ranking second only to Ethereum mainnet, which produced $4.7 billion. Uniswap facilitated over 99% of Robinhood Chain’s DEX volume. The snippet notes the network reached about $500 million in daily activity on 8 July, following more than $250 million in cumulative volume during the first week. Total Uniswap DEX volume was up 71% week-over-week during the same period.

Token Terminal data also shows more than $70 million worth of bridged ETH flowed into the network in the first week. The analytics platform said continued growth could turn Robinhood Chain into ‘a meaningful new source of demand for ETH.’

Tokenized stocks on the chain include versions of NVIDIA, Apple, and Google, sitting alongside memecoins, per Crypto Briefing. The mix is a reasonable proxy for where retail attention actually goes.

AI Agent Payments Beyond Robinhood: Still Early

Robinhood’s Robinhood AI agent crypto push sits inside a broader industry pattern. Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong and Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire have both said they expect AI agents to become major users of blockchain payment rails over the next several years.

Amazon Web Services integrated Coinbase’s x402 payments protocol into Amazon Bedrock AgentCore (the AWS announcement page dates this to April 2026, though the original presentation referenced May). The integration, built with Coinbase and Stripe, allows AI agents to set session-level spending limits and transact autonomously, with Coinbase stating transactions clear in roughly 200 milliseconds on Base at a fraction of a cent each. Over 10,000 x402 endpoints are accessible through the AgentCore Gateway.

Earlier, crypto wallet startup Oobit introduced a Visa-backed virtual card enabling AI agents to make business purchases using USDT.

Adoption figures keep the enthusiasm in check. Artemis data shows the x402 protocol processed approximately $2 million in transaction volume during June, suggesting the infrastructure is ahead of actual usage by a considerable margin.

One regulatory overhang has cleared. The Robinhood newsroom confirmed the SEC’s Enforcement Division closed its investigation into Robinhood Crypto with no action, advising the company in a letter dated 21 February 2025.

The immediate variable to watch is a Uniswap governance proposal, flagged by the DeFiLlama newsletter, that would expand protocol fees to Robinhood Chain and route proceeds to Uniswap’s TokenJar for burning. If it passes alongside the separate v4 fee-activation proposal, the fee economics on the chain shift materially.
